Since 1969, hydrological studies have been focused on the evaluation of the water resources in the Mancha
Oriental aquifer. According to the water level records, some of them divide the system in several zones,
which differ in number and extension. This fact leads to confuse calculations in the water balance. In this
work, limits, geological structure, and water table evolution are described in the six hydrogeologic domains,
which are identified taking into account not only the water level evolution but the geological features as
well. Their characterisation contributes to a better understanding of the hydrogeologic behaviour of a
system, which supports a high environmental pressure due to the development extensive irrigation cultures
