The ages of the tufa terraces of the Dúrcal River, in the vicinity of Cónchar, were obtained through the
amino acid racemization method, which define the begining of the fluvial incision and the successive
periods of carbonate accumulation and destruction/incision. These processes are related with the evolution
of the nearby Padul peat bog, in which the deactivation of the alluvial fans that fed this mire was produced
at 400 ka coinciding with the uppermost tufa level formation at Cónchar and, therefore, with the dynamics
of the Dúrcal river, which are probably linked to neotectonics
