Hijas de la noche (II ) : el destino de las Parcas entre el pasado y el presente

Abstract

Aunque en la Antigüedad el destino estaba presente tanto en la religiosidad popular como en la religión oficial, en la filosofía, la literatura y el arte, y tenía diferentes concepciones, también alcanzó un estatus de realidad mitológica cuando Hesíodo lo presentó en la Teogonía como un trío divino de hijas de Nix, la Noche. Todos los pueblos indoeuropeos han conocido divinidades del destino, pero hoy queremos centrarnos especialmente en su pervivencia desde época romana en la mitología y las creencias populares del pueblo rumano, donde toman la forma de unos personajes míticos femeninos denominados generalmente Ursitoare y cuya principal atribución es establecer la suerte, el destino del ser humano, desde su nacimiento hasta la muerte.

Although in Antiquity the fate was present in popular religiosity and official religion, philosophy, literature and arts, and it had itself different conceptions, it reached a status of mithological reality when Hesiod introduced it at the Theogonia like a trio of divinities, Nix´s daughters: the daughters of the Night. All Indoeuropean peoples have known such divinities of Destiny, but today we want to study its enduring presence from Roman age at mithology and popular beliefs of the Romanian people, where they take the shape of some mithic feminine characters usually named Ursitoare, whose main attribute is to establish the luck, the destiny of the human being, from birth to death.
