El sistema multilateral de comercio, establecido a finales de 1947 con la firma del Acuerdo General sobre Aranceles Aduaneros y Comercio (GATT) buscaba una mayor liberalización del comercio mundial a través de la cooperación internacional, cooperación que se ha consolidado y potenciado con la creación de la Organización Mundial de Comercio (OMC). Organización que, fuera de toda duda, constituye, hoy, el mayor ente operativo del orden económico universal denominado globalización. La OMC significa una transformación importante respecto al sistema GATT; aporta nuevos elementos, que unidos a los ya establecidos desde 1947, consolidan y fortalecen el actual sistema del comercio internacional. ________________________________________The multilateral trade system established at the end of 1947 by the General Agreement of Tariffs and Trade (GATT) has always pursued as its main objective the liberalisation of world trade through the international cooperation, a cooperation which has been encouraged and consolidated by the creation of the World Trade Organisation (WTO). At present the WTO constitutes, without any doubt, the most important universal operational entity of economic order called globalisation. The WTO entails an important transformation with respect to the GATT, it brings new elements which, together with those established since 1947, tend to consolidate and strengthen the present international trade system.
