Aprender a lo largo de la vida : desafío de la sociedad actual

Abstract

En este trabajo presentamos en la primera parte una aproximación al concepto de Educación Permanente, donde se estudia el origen, desarrollo y la necesidad de la misma, así como sus diferentes etapas en el transcurso del tiempo y los principios en los que se apoya. Se dedica un amplio apartado a presentar la necesidad de la educación a lo largo de la vida y la importancia que le conceden los organismos internacionales, al considerarla como la clave para entrar en el siglo XXI.

La segunda parte se dedica a estudiar la educación para la ciudadanía como uno de los ámbitos de la Educación Permanente, la necesidad de este tipo de educación, así como los horizontes de esa nueva ciudadanía y las exigencias que comporta la formación del buen ciudadano.Finaliza con las dimensiones que presenta la nueva ciudadanía en la sociedad actual. Una ciudadanía democrática, social, paritaria, intercultural y ambiental.

In the first part of this paper, we present an approximation to the concept of Permanent Education, where its origin, development, and necessity, as well as the different stages in the course of time and the principles in which it stands are studied. A wide part of the paper is dedicated to presenting education’s necessity throughout life and the importance that international organisms place on this necessity when considering it as the key to enter in the 21st century. The second part is dedicated to the study of education for citizens as one of the areas of Permanent Education, the necessity of this type of education, as well as the horizons of this new citizenship and the requirements which are implied by the education of a good citizen. The paper finishes with dimensions that the new citizenship presents in nowadays society, a democratic, social, parity, intercultural, and environmental citizenship.
