El liberalismo decimonónico: aportaciones latinoamericanas a la historia atlántica

Abstract

En estas páginas se presenta una propuesta de contribución al estudio de la historia atlántica a partir del análisis de los sistemas de representación parlamentaria de algunos países latinoamericanos durante el siglo XIX. Para ello, resultan fundamentales los enfoques de la historia cultural de la política y de la historia transnacional. La tesis que sostengo es la necesidad de extender el estudio de la historia atlántica a un marco espacial y temporal ampliado: América Latina durante el siglo XIX. Estoy convencida de que una mirada más amplia puede ofrecer diferentes aportaciones al análisis del liberalismo decimonónico, dando lugar a interpretaciones mucho más complejas, pero también más veraces.

This paper presents a contribution to the study of Atlantic History, based on the analysis of the parliamentary systems of some Latin American countries during the nineteenth century. For this, the approaches of the cultural history of politics and transnational history are fundamental. The thesis that I support is the need to extend the study of Atlantic History to a larger geographic and temporal context: Latin American during the nineteenth century. I am convinced that a broader view can offer different contributions to the analysis of nineteenth-century liberalism. All of this result in a much more complex interpretation, but also more truthful.
