Abstract

El nuevo panorama geoestratégico que surgió tras el fin de la guerra fría condujo a muchos países europeos a suspender el servicio militar obligatorio. Sin embargo, en los últimos años se ha producido un profundo debate a través del cual se ha iniciado la reanudación del mismo por parte de algunos gobiernos. Entre las causas se encuentra la amenaza rusa, los atentados terroristas, la llegada de Donald Trump a la presidencia de EEUU, el déficit de reservistas, la falta de identidad nacional, que en mayor o menor medida tendrían una repercusión en España

The new geostrategic outlook that emerged following the end of the cold war led many European countries to terminate the legal requirement for their citizens to complete a period of military service. Notwithstanding this change, in recent years there has been a serious debate over this issue, leading to the reintroduction of military service by some governments. Justifications cited for this policy change include the threat from Russia, terrorist attacks, the arrival of Donald Trump as President of the United States of America, the lack of professional soldiers and the lack of a national identity, all of which, to a greater or lesser degree have repercussions for Spain
