The chlorites included within the pegmatitic bodies of the La Cabrera pluton (Spanish Central System) have been studied in order to stablish their characterization, clasification and relationship with other minerals. Two different chlorite types have been recognized: a) Fe-Mg chlorites (intermediate terms between clinoclore an chamosite), asociated with compositionally complex pegmatites, b) Mg-rich chlorites, whose compositions may range between donbassite-sudoite and sudoite s.s. terms, related with simple pegmatites. This study evidences differente chlorite generating processes related with the hydrothermal phenomenan suffered by these pegmatites. Fe-Mg chlorites formation is related with alteration of biotite crystals during late epidotyzation stages. The origin of Mg-rich chlorites remains uncertain
