This paper analyzes the first brachiopod record of three Neogene formations of the southwestern Guadalquivir Basin (Huelva province, SW Spain) with a wide cartographical distribution. Samples obtained in five sections of these formations have allowed to recognize three species belonging to the genera Terebratula, Maltaia and Cryptopora, the latter being the first record of this genus in Spain. In addition, the biostratigraphical distribution and palaeoecological context of these species and others present in upper Neogene sediments (Tortonian-Lower Pliocene) of south Spain are discussed.}, abstract = {This paper analyzes the ostracod faunas obtained from the lower and middle sections (170.4 m-89.3 m depth) of the core “Huelva” (SW Guadalquivir Basin). These sections were deposited in an epibathyal to outer shelf environment, where these organisms were extremely rare compared with other groups of microfossils. The Tortonian-Messinian boundary appears to mark a temporary shallowing of the environment, characterized by progressive disappearance of epibathyal forms}, publisher = {Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México}, keywords = {Braquiópodos}, keywords = {Tortoniense-Plioceno}, keywords = {Cuenca del Guadalquivir}, keywords = {España}, keywords = {Brachiopods}, keywords = {Tortonian-Pliocene}, keywords = {Guadalquivir basin}, keywords = {Spain}, keywords = {Foraminíferos bentónicos}, keywords = {Tortoniense-Messiniense}, keywords = {SO Depresión Guadalquivir}, keywords = {SO España}, keywords = {Ostracoda}, keywords = {Tortonian-Messinian}, keywords = {SW Guadalquivir Basin}, keywords = {SW Spain}, title = {Braquiópodos neógenos del suroeste de la depresión del Guadalquivir (sur de España)}, title = {Neogene brachiopods from the southwestern Guadalquivir basin (south Spain)}, title = {Micropaleontology of core “Huelva” (Huelva, SW Spain).
