Abstract

On 12 January 1970 a large slide took place on the old main Malaga-Granada road, characte rized initially by a rock fall with rotational sliding at the main scarp, followed by a widespread gra- vitational flow. The hidrogeological regime at a limestone-mar/ boundary, the lithology, the structural complexity and the high slope-angles result in a high susceptibility area to landsliding; the triggering factor on that occasion was high rainfall
