Its purpose is to disseminate the scientific and scholastic production of this University and ensure the preservation of their digital productions, as well as those institutions with which the University of Huelva has established agreements for that purpose.

It is also sponsored by the Port of Huelva, through the Cátedra Puerto de Huelva, and by regular aid granted by the Ministry of Culture to creation and processing of digital resources and their dissemination and preservation through digital repositories.
